AC/DC Servo Drive Systems
AIC has a long history of designing, programming, installing and supporting AC, DC and servo systems (including AC, DC and servo motors). We have installed and serviced thousands of single and multi-axis drives on a wide range of applications from pumps to multi-section continuous process lines. We have experience in a variety of industries including:
- Automotive
- Converting
- Printing
- Food & beverage
- Metals & mining
- Plastics & rubber
- Packaging
- Material handling
- Petrochemical
- Pharmaceutical
AIC engineers, technicians and panel fabricators are well versed in all aspects of adjustable speed drive configuration including speed, torque and position control. In addition, they are experts in implementing the host of networking options including Modbus RTU, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP/IP, ProfiNet, EtherCat, ControlNet, CTNet, Profibus DP, DeviceNet, and CANopen. We are also experienced with drive configuration software environments for Emerson, Siemens, ABB, Allen Bradley, GE/Fanuc, Yaskawa, Toshiba, Indramat, Danfoss AC, DC and Servo drives.
We can help with both new installations as well as retrofits. Our experienced technical group can help you select the best drive system for your application. In some cases, it might be a change from a DC to an AC drive. Or, the best solution might be an upgrade from an old obsolete DC drive platform to a new DC platform that offers high performance, flexibility, user-friendly interface and networking options. Applications having very tight position control and aggressive move profiles could require a servo solution.
Application Experience
Servo drive systems are complex and are designed for precise speed control, especially when rapid speed changes are required. AIC has installed thousands of servo drives on a wide range of applications from simple single-axis indexing and metering systems to complex multi-axis systems such as:
- Cut-to-length (flying shear & rotary shear)
- High-speed labeling
- Sorting
- Filling
- Packaging
- Print registration
- Conveying
- Tool positioning (contouring), requiring synchronized motion in single axis or full multi-axis camming control
Our experienced drive system design team knows all the right questions to ask in order to provide an optimized, cost-effective motor control solution. Not many control system integrators have this high level of drive application and programming experience, especially with complex servo drive applications.
We work with the leading AC, DC and servo drive manufacturers including Siemens, Emerson, ABB/Baldor, Indramat, Kollmorgen, Pacific Scientific, Yaskawa, Parker Hannifin, Mitsubishi and Rockwell AB. We are experienced in designing motion control systems that are either fully distributed with motion intelligence onboard the servo drive or have more centralized control via a PLC or industrial PC.
You can count on AIC to provide cost-effective motion solutions that shorten design times, allow quicker product change-overs, give higher throughput, and provide outstanding safety, quality, and the industry’s best pre- and post-sales support.
